Who Did the Pup-arazzi Snap At the Henmores Dog Show?

Whilst Crufts 2019 was already in full swing in nearby Birmingham, we had a jolly good turnout of our very own Henmores Dog Show on Sunday 10th March. In contrast to the unseasonably warm weather only a week or so prior, it was certainly a day of unsettled weather. First came the rain, then the sunshine, then the hail, and then some more rain and wind! That didn't stop our lovely contestants and their owners from popping into the store to compete for the highly coveted rosettes. We also had Sandford Gundogs on hand to provide training tips and there were delicious dog treats aplenty, as cooked up by Ashbourne Bakehouse.

Whilst there were only 4 competition classes (Waggiest Tail, Best Groomed, Best Trick, and Golden Oldie), we did have to create an extra special (and last minute) class just for Cora, who was an Irish Deerhound. Yes, you guessed it! Knocking away all the competition, Cora won resoundingly in our 'Biggest Dog' class! At just 7 months old, Cora measured 5"11' tall when standing up on her hind legs. There were no calamities, except for one glass of prosecco  being knocked over at the start of the day by a waggy tail!

Winners:

Purdy

Waggiest Tail - Purdy

Not only did Purdy have a very waggy tail, she also had a  big smile (as seen in this photo!) The judges were unanimous in their decision. Congratulations Purdy!

Snoopy

Best Trick - Snoopy

Complete with a dashing red bandanna, Snoopy stole the show by performing a variety of tricks that wowed the adoring audience. Congratulations Snoopy!

willet

Best Groomed - Willet

According to Willet's owner, he had his first bath (in a long time) in preparation for our show. Well, the hard work paid off and Willet - sporting a charming bow tie - was declared the best groomed dog. Well done Willet!

Alfie

Golden Oldie - Alfie

At 11 years old, Alfie showed no signs of slowing down when he came to see us. Look at those gorgeous ears - doesn't he look well? Congratulations Alfie!

Last but not least...Cora, Winner of the Biggest Dog!

Cora2

We also had visits from local celebrities - sorry, we mean dog celebrities - such as Mabel the Basset Hound, who often frequents the Henmores store and Ashbourne Bakehouse (no doubt because she can sniff the tasty treats!)  Many thanks to all who came, and a special thanks to Sandford Gundogs for their time, and to Ashbourne Bakehouse for their fantastic bakes!

Didn't make it in to see us on Sunday? Don't worry, we've put together a small gallery of photos from the day!
